About

Hamza Khan will receive his PhD in Organization Studies from the Boston College Carroll School of Management this summer. Previously, he has an MBA degree and a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the Lahore University of Management Science in Pakistan.

Hamza is a meso-level field researcher and uses primarily inductive qualitative research methods. His research explores how individuals and organizations address fundamental, self-defining questions such as “who am I at work / who are we as an organization?” and “why do we exist as an organization?” More specifically, his research centers on issues of identity and purpose in and of organizations. He studies how organizations and individuals nested within organizations construct identities, how organizations can change their purpose to better deal with emergent social issues, and conflict and its resolution in organizations. His research examines diverse contexts such as organizations and occupations that serve minority communities in the United States.
