About
Jessica (Jess) Joslin (she/her), PhD is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Diversity Initiatives at the University of Illinois Chicago. In this role, Jess directs strategic planning efforts, develops educational resources and trainings, and leads several other programs for the Office of Diversity, Equity and Engagement. She is also involved in UIC’s Dialogue Initiative.
Prior to UIC, Jess worked in diversity and instructional consulting at the University of Michigan.
Jess holds a PhD and MA in higher education from the University of Michigan, as well as a Master of Divinity from Harvard University. Outside of higher education, Jess spent several years working as a hospital chaplain providing emergency and crisis care for patients and their loved ones. She is also approved for ordination in the United Church of Christ.
Outside of UIC, Jess loves spending time with her dogs, learning about animals, sewing, thrifting and a good podcast (recommendations welcome!).
