Odeh Center Hosts Inaugural Health Equity Lecture

Tristesse Burton, PhD

The UIC Odehmenan Health Equity Center hosted its inaugural health equity lecture on October 4. The lecture–entitled Plants, People, and Culture: Women’s Health Research with BIPOC Women–was presented by Tristesse Burton, PhD. Burton is a Bridge to Faculty (B2F) scholar in the UIC Department of Pharmacy Practice.

Burton discussed the benefits and use in treatment of women’s health issues for indigenous plants and offered an important examination of how BIPOC women can inform our research, understanding and cultural documentation of menopausal or perimenopausal symptoms.
