Join us for conversation and community! We’ll have topics for each meet-up to focus our discussions, but bring whatever is on your mind.

This series is an intentional space for building disability community. We define disability broadly, and we welcome people who identify as disabled, Sick, Mad & neurodivergent, Deaf, spoonie, etc.–as well as people who are thinking through their relationship to disability identity. Whether you have an official diagnosis or not, this space is yours.

We ask that nondisabled allies respect this intentional space and join us for other events!

Wednesday, February 22
Access Intimacy & Friendships
What's our experience with friends who get it, and friends who don't? We can chat about making friends, keeping them or letting them go, sharing our access needs, and more.

Thursday, March 9
Disabled &&&& : Our Intersectional Identities
We all have multiple overlapping and intersecting social identities--cultural backgrounds, gender identities, sexuality, age, class, where we were born, and so much more. This is a space for unpacking how our many identities shape our experiences.

The Uses of Anger
How do we navigate anger and frustration, especially when it's related to injustice?

Disabled at Work
What are our concerns and #ProTips for finding jobs, using accommodations, and having a good experience at work?

Covid-19 safety: Masking is required in the DCC Lounge– we have some on hand!

A separate quiet space will be available during the event. We use fragrance-free products but UIC is not a fragrance-free campus. Please avoid wearing scents to maintain a reduced-fragrance environment! Contact dcc@uic.edu with any access requests.
