About
Nadine Peacock, is an Associate Vice Chancellor in UIC’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Engagement. Before moving to this position she spent 26 years as a tenured faculty member in the School of Public Health, the last 6 of which she also served as the SPH Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion. Dr. Peacock has undergraduate training in anthropology and photojournalism, a PhD in anthropology, and postdoctoral training in public health and reproductive endocrinology. Her research interests are broadly concerned with social and cultural influences on women’s reproductive health, infant health and health inequities. She has conducted anthropological and public health research in central Africa, east Africa and among urban communities in the U.S. Dr. Peacock has methodological expertise in qualitative research, computer-assisted analysis of qualitative data, community participatory research, and the bridging of qualitative and quantitative research techniques. In her administrative work, Dr. Peacock’s interests lie in pathways to academic success for persons from under-represented backgrounds, including adult learners, parents and justice-involved persons. Outside of UIC, Dr. Peacock serves as a Board member for PING!, a nonprofit organization that helps assure equitable access to elementary and high school music programs in her community.
