UIC Chancellor Marie Lynn Miranda recently visited the Bee Love Café, part of the North Lawndale Employment Network located at 1111 S. Homan, to explore partnership opportunities and learn about their operations, including apiaries used to produce a variety of bee honey products.
The successful social justice enterprise, led by Brenda Palms, founder and CEO of NLEN, serves under and unemployed residents of the North Lawndale neighborhood and surrounding communities, including citizens returning from incarceration and others who face the day-to-day hardships of living without enough income to support themselves or their families.
