UIC Asian American Resource and Cultural Center mentor program wins national award

2024 NASPA Conference

The UIC Asian American Resource and Cultural Center (AARCC)’s Asian American Mentor Program (AAMP) recently won the 2024 Promising Program award from the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).

AARCC’s Asian American Mentor Program was selected by the NASPA Student Affairs Partnering with Academic Affairs (SAPAA) Knowledge Community (KC) for this award, which recognizes both universities and student personnel administrators who do an exemplary job of facilitating academic and student affairs.

“AAMP was started in 2006 by AARCC to ease the transition for new UIC students and, through the support of the UIC Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institutions (AANAPISI) Initiative and the partnership of Global Asian Studies, AAMP has grown and evolved since,” stated Mark Martell, PhD, executive director of AARCC. “We are excited to be recognized for AAMP and validated for the impact of AARCC’s work.”

AAMP will be honored at the 2024 NASPA Annual Conference, held this year in Seattle from March 9 through March 13.
