Chancellor delivers his final State of the University Address

Chancellor Michael Amiridis, who is leaving UIC this summer, gave the final State of the University address of his tenure on April 5th. It was also the first in-person State of the University address in the past two years.

Chancellor Amiridis highlighted the newly appointed members of University leadership, UIC’s front line response in the community for COVID-19 mitigation and care, the continued development of University resources for underrepresented student retention and support, the substantial research grants awarded to UIC faculty and students, and the local and national impact of the medical care offered by UI Health.

He also specifically noted the success and promotion of the Bridge to the Faculty (B2F) Program out of the Office of Diversity, Equity & Engagement as well as the development of two new neighborhood centers in Auburn Gresham and North Lawndale spearheaded by the Office of Community Collaboration.
