On February 8, past and present Bridge to Faculty (B2F) cohort members gathered at Lalo’s on Maxwell for the program’s Spring Gathering.

Facilitated by the UIC Office of Diversity, Equity and Engagement’s B2F administrative team, this event allowed new postdocs from the 2023 cohort the opportunity to connect with previous B2F scholars who have transitioned to faculty in order to encourage professional relationship building between B2F generations.

“This is an amazing group of scholars with great energy and exceptional talent who are genuinely excited to be a part of our UIC community,” shared Charu Thakral, PhD, interim vice chancellor for diversity, equity and engagement. “I absolutely loved meeting them and left feeling like I wanted more time to hear and learn from their rich experiences. UIC is so fortunate to have these scholars and this program!”

Bridge to Faculty (B2F) is a recruitment program designed to attract underrepresented postdoctoral scholars with the goal of a direct transition to a tenure-track junior faculty position after two years. The B2F program started with its first cohort in Fall 2020. They are now working with their fourth cohort and preparing to welcome their fifth cohort in the fall of this year.
