“Jamaica y Tamarindo: Afro Tradition in the Heart of Mexico” spotlights the lives of five diverse Afro-Mexicanos as they explore their intersecting identities through their heritages while living in Mexico City. Stay for a brief post-film conversation featuring Diosmery Roque and enjoy fresh aguas frescas!*
After the screening, Diosmery will facilitate a conversation about the film and will briefly present on Afro-Mexican identity in Guerrero.
About the Facilitator: Diosmery is a first-generation college graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and History from Roosevelt University. She is of Afro-Mexican roots in the state of Guerrero. Where she visits every year in December. Diosmery currently lives in DuPage County, where she continues her journey to decolonize. Her favorite snack is fried Plantains!
