Bias Prevention & Education
There is a tremendous amount of research evidence that demonstrates that bias affects everything from whether a patient of color receives the same level of care as a White patient from their medical provider, to how we hire and recommend students and colleagues to careers or programs, to whether students persist in their degree, to whether we feel or have access to safety in every aspect of our lives. Accordingly, addressing the presence of implicit bias at UIC is not something we just do because it feels good – we do it because it is essential.
The Office of Diversity, Equity & Engagement provides a range of tools to help advance that effort including trainings, resources and information on reporting.
