At UIC, Torin White holds the position of Data Science Librarian and is part of the Bridge to the Faculty Program with the UIC Library. Their research interests include the ethics of research data (particularly social media data), the open science movement, science communication, and relationships between science, spirituality, and religion.
They earned their MA in Library and Information Science and MS in Science Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completing their master’s thesis on the open science movement. They also have a BA in Religious Studies and Spanish Language from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Torin was previously the Data Services and Digital Scholarship Librarian at the University of California Santa Barbara.
