UIC’s Latino Cultural Center Awarded Mellon Grant

UIC’s Rafael Cintrón Ortiz Latino Cultural Center and their local partners Alianza Americas & Little Village Environmental Justice Organization (LVEJO) are part of a consortium of universities and community partners that comprise  the Humanities Action Lab. HAL has been awarded a three-year, $500,000  grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to establish Climates of Inequality and the COVID Crisis: Building Leadership at Minority Serving Institutions. This ongoing national initiative is designed to build the infrastructure for public humanities-based climate leadership in a world changed by COVID, centering the experiences, assets, and needs of MSI students and faculty. Rosa Cabrera, PhD, Director of the Latino Cultural Center, is the UIC principal investigator.
