UIC Leads Consortium of Hispanic Serving Institutions

With the collaborative effort of the 16 Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HIS’s) that represent diverse communities nationwide, UIC is set to spearhead Crossing Latinidades, a new consortium to engage in proposing new resources and tackle issues that concern diverse student population. Through the support presented by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to the Office of Diversity and the Latin American and Latino Studies, a $150,000 grant was awarded to launch Crossing Latinidades. This initiative will comprise of working groups to pinpoint issues that involve themes around cultural identity and resources made available for diverse student populations.
