Monday, Oct. 28 - 1:30pm to 3:30pm
We invite you to participate in our annual communal altar installation by bringing a photo or a remembrance item of a departed loved one to place on our altar, which will be on display until Friday, Nov. 1st.
Calaveras, Cempazúchitl & Monarch Butterflies
Tuesday, Oct. 29 - 12pm to 4pm
Decorate a sugar skull, make paper cempazúchitl (marigold) flowers, create skull-shaped seed bombs to help preserve Monarch butterfly habitats, and honor departed loved ones through storytelling.
A Celebration of Life & Death
Wednesday, Oct. 30 - 5pm to 6:30pm
Enjoy folk songs and storytelling by Jarochicanos! Sip on café de olla and eat delicious pan de muerto. Don’t forget to bring an object or photo of a departed loved one and share a story about them.
This program is co-sponsored by UIC student organizations: UIC Heritage Garden Student Group (HG), Mexican Students de Aztlán (MeSA), Chi Sigma Omega, Latino Pre-Medical Student Association (LPMSA), and Alpha Psi Lambda Co-Ed Fraternity.
