Join us for an outdoor open art studio* with Gloria “Gloe” Talamantes to design your own voting graffiti in preparation for the Illinois Midterm Elections 2018. Get the opportunity to co-create and showcase why voting is important through spray paint. Contribute your creativity by using art templates! Your artwork can be distributed throughout campus and displayed throughout your neighborhood. If you are a U.S. citizen and resident of Illinois, you are in luck – you can register online until October 21, 2018. The UIC Student Leadership and Civic Engagement will join us and host a Ballot Party to help campus community select their candidates for the Nov 6 Election. When: Thursday, October 18, 2018 FREE refreshments and admission *While supplies last Gloria is a Chicago based artist who grew up in Little Village. She is a Columbia creative writing alumna. For Talamantes both her Mexican and Graffiti cultures have been an integral part of her life. She continues to honor and elevate these through her work.
