As Asian American Pacific Islander women and people socialized as women and girls, we make decisions every day on behalf of our bodies, families and communities. But we all know how at every turn, the state and other institutions are trying to take away our choices and ability to decide what to do with our bodies, families and
communities. While gender-based violence is at a high in our communities, we will discuss ways that this impacts AAPI women’s reproductive self determination. As an act of giving voice to and demanding our rights, we will learn how and why we need to share our stories.

Facilitated By: Gabrielle Vergara- Cultural Chair of Alpha Phi Gamma, NAPAWF - ASA's President & CEO

Alpha Phi Gamma Sorority, Inc is an Asian interest sorority. However, we are NOT an Asian-exclusive sorority. We continue to provide Asian Awareness to the university and the surrounding community to promote academic excellence, personal development, and leadership.

The National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF) is the only national, multi-issue Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women’s organization in the country. NAPAWF’s mission is to build collective power of all AAPI women and girls to gain full agency to make decisions about lives, our families, and our communities.

Amy Tran is a member of NAPAWF, who is being trained through the Reproductive Justice Leadership Institue. A junior at Loyola University Chicago, Amy is born and raised in Chicago in which she started volunteering at non-profit organizations that advocates for immigrant and refugee rights. She started her work with Asian American Advancing Justice Chicago: KINETIC in high school and continues her work through the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum to focus on advocating for reproductive justice as well as immigrant and refugee rights. She is passionate about empowering others and working towards better changes.

Nashiha Alam is the Chicago Senior Organizer at NAPAWF. She holds a B.A. in Women's and Gender Studies from Loyola University Chicago, and was an awardee at Chicago Women and Femmes to Celebrate in 2017. Nashiha is a daughter of Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants, who instilled in her values of justice through struggle and dedication to community. She is inspired by leadership that uplifts and nurtures rising leaders, and the idea that organizers make the impossible into possible. Before joining NAPAWF, Nashiha worked in the immigrant rights movement at Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Chicago, where she built a framework for community organizing and youth development. Nashiha is a collective member of Chicago Desi Youth Rising, focusing on South Asian youth political and leadership development.

Seri Lee is the Chicago Organizer at NAPAWF. Seri is a queer non-binary femme and child of the Korean diaspora. Born and raised in Chicago, they grew up in a working-class immigrant family, and their experiences of racial, gender, and class oppression have directly shaped their understanding of their self, community, and world. A junior at Northwestern University, Seri is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Global History and Comparative Race & Ethnic Studies. On campus, they organize with the Latinx Asian American Collective (LAAC) and Students Organizing for Labor Rights (SOLR), and the Asian Pacific American Coalition (APAC).
